This is a long time favorite of mine. The food is cooked over an open
charcoal flame right in front of you as you order it. In fact, they're
the real "We won't make it 'til you order it," because even the fries,
onion rings, and milkshakes follow this rule. It means that you'll have
to wait an extra 2-3 minutes for your food, but it's well worth the wait.
The
staff is also very accommodating. For instance, the milkshakes are made
by hand when ordered, and they always get my order of "light on the chocolate"
just right.
There are a few downsides, however. First, I think
they should have higher quality buns, as the ones they use aren't really
in the same class as their hot dogs and other food. Second, they accept
only cash, no credit or debit cards. However, these two issues pale in
comparison to the fact that Ted's is the best place in town for a great
hot dog.
Ted's is located at 1755 E. Broadway in Tempe.
