China Star Super Buffet (Chandler)

These have been popping all over the valley over the past couple of years,
and I'm reluctant to try something so new and chain-like. At this point,
I don't know if they exist outside of the valley, or even outside of the
state. Even though most of the food was beyond what I had expected at
a buffet, it had a very pre-packaged grocery store feel to it.
And
I know exactly why that is. As you probably know, a lot of restaurants
buy food that has been somewhat prepared, like frozen chicken or tubs of
ice cream instead of plucking the chickens and milking the cows themselves.
But even so, they usually hide this fact back in the kitchen. But when
you see oversized tin cans of pudding and boxes of pastries brought out
front to refill the buffet, the "fantasy" loses its value.
I
don't know how to rate this location. Does using containers of food from
Fry's that I buy on my own deduct points from food or atmosphere?
Other
than that one single rant, I really have no other complaints. Service
was great, the interior was quiet and calm, and the pricing was relatively
low. I will be going back, and this time I will be ignoring the backroom
items that have been, inadvertently I hope, left up front.
