While spending a day downtown, walking through the streets and awaiting
the completion of the construction of my new office, I discovered this
Irish pub. The first thing I noticed were the interesting prices. Items
had odd prices, but were consistent in not ending in .99 or .95. And there
was actually a real reason for this.
As it turns out, confusing
customers with odd prices is not an ancient Irish tradition. The reason
for this turned out to be because the total price adds to a whole dollar
amount once tax has been calculated.
I expected the menu to
be filled with names of dishes I couldn't pronounce, but as it turns out,
the menu included most things that I was familiar with, though with an
Irish twist. There was something that I didn't recognize, called a "boxty."
This is some sort thing covered in some sort of sauce. And I know that
with that description alone you're ready to run right out and pick one
up.
The atmosphere is nicely embedded in an older building downtown,
and the food will agree even with foreigners (read "non-Irish").
