Our original stop was not here, it was intended to be a pizza place down
the road. However, that pizza place appeared to be either closed or abandoned.
It was hard to tell. So we pulled up to Troia's, seeing that it was the
nearest location we found that served pizza. After all, we were already
set on what we wanted for dinner.
To our delight, they offered
outdoor seating, which was perfect for this time of year. We started with
a complimentary appetizer of bread with olive oil. Service was sporadic.
It took awhile before our drinks arrived initially. Sometimes they were
refilled quickly, other times we thought we had been forgotten about.
And
this memory lapse wasn't limited to our drinks. Our main course arrived
before our appetizer. Our server asked if we still wanted the appetizer.
Interested in trying it out, we said yes. That was a mistake. While
the main course and everything else were pretty good, the bruschetta was
not.
We weren't offered compensation in any way for the awful
appetizer nor the for the fact that it was forgotten about. The food and
the service were not impressive, but the outdoor atmosphere might be worth
revisiting.
Troia's is located at 1885 W. SR 89A in Sedona.
