Flagstaff?

I'm seriously thinking of relocating to Flag. i've visited twice and am planning another short trip there soon.

Work is not a problem as I can bring my own job with me. As long as there is high speed internet access.....

But housing is what's on my mind.
What neighborhoods are ok? I keep looking at the homes for sale online, and sometimes it is a little discouraging. As a single income person, I just want to be able to find a modest home in a nice neighborhood for myself and my dog.

How is Prescott? Are homes cheaper there? I will try to visit there as well. Does Prescott have the same feel as Flag?

My other choice is Tucson. I understand it's a great city, but I don't know much about it.

Thanks in advance for any help. I wan this move to be my last, hopefully. I am ready to put down roots.

I'm not really aware of any bad neighborhoods in Flagstaff.. they should all be okay. Some of the houses are older. I actually like the area just north of Flagstaff that's off the highway on the way up to Snowbowl.. but I'm sure it's a bit pricey.

Wonderful! It's one place I'd like to have another home in the not-too-distant future.

From what I can tell, they are much less expensive.

I would highly recommend that :-). It's not far, and it will quickly give you an idea of the differences and similarities.

For the most part, yes. Flagstaff is about 2,000 feet higher in elevation, so the weather is slightly cooler and the area tends to receive more snow in the winter. Flagstaff has more of a city-feel to it than Prescott does.

I'm not much help - but coming from someone who wasn't born here, Flag vs Prescott really comes down to wether you want a bigger city feel, or a quaint town feel. They're both awesome. Flag is certainly more commercial, more of a college town, while Prescott is the place where people go to unwind. I love both, and wouldn't be able to choose - good luck!

Thanks for the replies.

I'm an RN and consider myself a good solid type citizen, and since I bring my employment with me, I figure I'm a good addition to any town. I get active with local organizations and the community I live in.

I am also an outdoors girl, so I will also want to be looking at the areas around both towns. I wonder if both towns basically are surrounded by the same type vegitation, trees and the like.

Is May a good month to visit? Seems to me I was there before in May and it was lovely. I need to do one more scouting trip to make up my mind.

For the most part, yes.. lots of evergreens, pines and such.

May has highs of around 68 degrees in Flagstaff and 76 degrees in Prescott. I think it'll be a great time for you to visit.
