<I was looking for information about good neighborhoods. I have
been hearing the northwest valley, north of Peoria Ave is the place to
go, but you seem to like the east valley. Does that include Mesa also?>
Mesa
does make up a big part of the east valley, but there are other cities
such as Tempe, Chandler, Queen Creek, Apache Junction, Gold Canyon, and
others...
My personal preference for the metro area is the east
valley. What are you looking for? That would be a good place to start in
giving you a recommendation.

Thanks for the response. Mostly I am looking for housing that I can
afford in a good area. Your response has been very helpful, I can work
with that.

<Mostly I am looking for housing that I can afford in a good area.>
The
housing that's most affordable is what's furthest from the center of the
valley. You can find some really nice brand new houses, 3 bedroom 2 bath,
for about $100,000 in the far east valley or the far west valley. Keep
in mind, though, that both of these options may result in 1+ hours of one-way
commute to and from your job. The same house closer to the center of town
may be $115,000 and would cost an extra $100/month, but could save you
$100/month in gas and wear-and-tear on your car. I'd rather put the money
into my house than my car :-).
So make sure you consider all
the angles, not just the purchase price of a house.

Hey we live in LA and used to live in AZ when we were in the Army.....beautiful
state. I am from MN and I adjusted to the heat real fast, and I am very
pale pale skinned. My husband is dark, but he also has no problem. We just
bought a new house outside of Mesa, AZ........beautiful prices, is a 3100
Sq ft. home for less than 180...............I would take a look around
there, or if you are more concerned about weather, take a look at some
of the other communities that may be higher elevations. We bought through
KB Home, but I know there is a lot of building out there doing on now......many
many new builders. I love AZ, it just doesnt compare to L.A.!

hi there,
I'm from NE and this is what I'm looking for:
I
paid 250,000 for my house, so I think the prices are way better in AZ...not
an issue
I would like to have temps in the 80's to 90's (could
deal with more) in the summer, with little to no snow in the winter.
A
nice, safe area, with good jobs. I like to be in northern AZ. Flagstaff
sounds OK, but I think they get too much snow. I'm sick of digging out!
Would also like to be kinda close to Las Vegas if I want to drive a few
hours and go for the weekend. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
