Grand Canyon - How was your trip?
Post New MessageMany people from all over the world have visited the Grand Canyon. From what I understand, it's more common for someone who's only visited Arizona to have been to the canyon than it has for a native. I can attest to that, as I'm a native and only saw the canyon myself for the first time about two years ago.
I always knew it was there, but just never felt inclined to go visit it until I happened to be in the Flagstaff area with about a day left before having to head back to Phoenix. Originally, it wasn't part of the planned trip, just a way to spend some time during the last day.
However, I am very glad that I ended up spending some time there. I visited the south rim, as is the most common side to visit. And I have to say that the photos I've seen have never really brought it to life. You go there thinking that it's going to look just like the pictures you've seen. And while it really does, it also doesn't at the same time. It's not just a big hole in the ground :-).
I'm curious about other people's visits to the Grand Canyon.. what has your experience been?
New poster, but I did want to add my input. My experience - after several miles of black ice I turned around. It was late Oct. & I was in a rental car. Didn't want to take any chances. Bought videos the the Canyon instead.
I too am a native and have never been to the Canyon. Some day.... some day.....
Yeah, that's what we all say. It took me forever to get there, and it wasn't even planned. It was more like, "Hey, we're in Flagstaff.. wanna go?" :-)
