History & Culture of Aguila

There are a few different stories as to how "Aguila" was named. The most common is that it came from a mountain formation nearby which bears a striking resemblence to the beak of an eagle, or in Spanish, "pico de aguila." Apparently, this name was shortened to "Aguila" and remained.

The town's post office was established in 1910, and has been known for its farming.

Aguila is located approximately 25 miles west of Wickenburg in western Maricopa County.
