Unveiling Papago Park's Hidden Natural Gems
Tucked away in the heart of Arizona lies a natural wonder that has captivated visitors for centuries – Tonto Natural Bridge, an iconic stone bridge shaped by wind and water over millions of years. Located within Papago Park, this breathtaking natural arch is a must-visit destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers.
A Brief History of the Bridge
Tonto Natural Bridge was formed when the Coconino Sandstone layer beneath the Redwall Limestone layer eroded away, creating a 183-foot-long bridge. Over time, the limestone has been shaped by wind and water into its current unique form. The bridge has become an iconic symbol of Arizona's natural beauty and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
