One of the most iconic hiking trails in the region is the Mogollon Rim Trail, which winds its way along the edge of the Colorado Plateau, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness.

About the Trail

The Mogollon Rim Trail spans 7 miles from near the town of Heber to the Payson Ranger District. The trail begins at an elevation of approximately 8,000 feet and descends gradually to around 6,500 feet as you make your way along the rim of the plateau. Best Times to Visit

The best time to hike the Mogollon Rim Trail depends on your personal preferences. If you prefer cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, consider visiting during the spring or fall months when the weather is mild and comfortable. Summer can be quite warm, but the cooler evenings make it an ideal time for stargazing.

Practical Tips

Before embarking on your hike, be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection, as well as a map and compass or GPS device to navigate the trail. Additionally, check with park rangers or local outfitters for up-to-date information on trail conditions and any necessary permits or reservations.
