A Day In Holy History

This past week has been very troubling for many around the world. Pope John Paul II has impacted millions of people's lives over the last few decades. There are even those that remember his visit to Arizona

The State of Arizona comprises the extreme south-western portion of the United States. It is bounded on the north by Utah, on the east by New Mexico, on the south by Mexico, and on the west by California and Nevada.

nearly 20 years ago as if it were only yesterday.

The Pope first visited The Valley in September of 1987. It was a memorable time for many. About 100,000 people came to see him then, and he was greeted by then Gov. Evan Mecham, one of 12 politicians at the airport for this event.

Pope John Paul II was a morality icon for more than just Catholics, as he traveled the world promoting the dignity of society and sanctity of human life. Having served as Pope for about 27 years, he will be missed by many.
