Huzzah, it's here! The ArizonaArizona | (air-i'-ZON-u') | The State of Arizona comprises the extreme south-western portion of the United States. as myself since I do try and attend each year, and try a different food
item each year. This year, the tickets were provided to us by our friends
at Radio Cafe and their trivia contest, but are well worth the price when
you purchase them.
If you're an impulse buyer, leave your money
at home, or bring it all with, depending on what your goal is. There are
many great novelties including clothing, jewelry, furniture, houseware,
candles, and other decorations. If you don't watch what you're spending,
this can get very expensive very quickly. Oh, and if you don't want to
be attacked, bring your own rose. If you're with your special someone,
it's difficult to walk around without either buying a rose, or being accused
of not caring because you won't buy a rose.
My favorite part has
always been the side shows. These very hilarious, wonderfully rehearsed,
and extremely entertaining. These shows don't cost anything; you can just
walk by and watch, or have a seat on a bale of hay; though the performers
do ask for donations after the show. And like everyone else at the festival,
they will try and guilt you into giving them money.
Three years
ago at the Renaissance Festival, we were rained on much of the day. Watching
the joust while sitting on the cold, wet, muddy bleachers was not a great
experience. And with the weather as it's been, we were awaiting deja vu.
Surprisingly, it was one of the dry days in all of this rain we've had;
and it's actually still raining right now.
Vegetable Justice --
You can't miss this. It's an insult game. You purchase tomatoes and throw
them at a target. The target being a man with his head and hands sticking
through holes in the back wall. This person insults you; whether it be
about your weight, hair, height, clothes, or any other attributes; while
you try to hit him with these tomatoes. This game is entertaining to the
more than one-hundred spectators that are drawn to this relatively small
area. A word of warning, though, do not play if you are easily offended.
If
you've never been to the ArizonaArizona | (air-i'-ZON-u') | The State of Arizona comprises the extreme south-western portion of the United States. out.
