Happy Thanksgiving - 2003

Today was a day with the family. All of us gathered around one large wooden
table with extensions installed, sitting on benches, roll-around chairs,
and whatever else we could find to use a chair to provide seating for the
entire family around a single table. Each year, I'm still amazed that
it's possible to fit all of us and all of the food in one room around one
table. If Thanksgiving is about togetherness, then we've got that part
covered.
We feasted on all of our favorites; mashed potatoes
with gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, corn, rolls, and of course,
turkey. And all of this while discussing the happenings of the Blue Collar
Comedy Tour, which I so far have not seen. After dinner, retiring, or
tiring, to the couch, we gave ourselves plenty of time to digest and attempt
to make room for dessert (yes, dessert in the desert).
As if
to enter into a fast-action summer blockbuster, suddenly a variety of pies
were thrust forth. Okay, so it wasn't that dramatic, but we did have homemade
whipped-cream. None of that prepackaged stuff. Instead, it was that prepackaged
liquid stuff that my mom whipped by herself.
Dinner was great,
dessert was excellent, and the company couldn't have been better.
